Programs & Services

How They Help

Foster Care & Placement Services

UCAN's licensed foster care program recruits, trains, and supports foster families across the Chicago area. They provide trauma-informed training, placement support, and wraparound services for foster families and the children in their care — ensuring stability, healing, and permanency for youth involved in Illinois' child welfare system.

Mental Health Services

UCAN provides outpatient and community-based mental health services for children, youth, and families dealing with trauma, behavioral health challenges, and crisis situations. Their licensed clinicians deliver individual, family, and group therapy — all grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive practice that meets the unique needs of Chicago's communities.

Transitional Housing & Independent Living

For youth aging out of foster care and young adults experiencing homelessness, UCAN provides transitional housing, independent living skills training, and case management. Their housing programs bridge the gap between foster care and adult independence — ensuring young people have a stable foundation as they build their futures in Chicago.

Youth Development & Workforce Programs

UCAN's youth development programs equip young people with the skills, mentoring, and community connection they need to thrive. From workforce readiness and job placement to arts programming and mentoring, UCAN builds pathways to opportunity for Chicago's youth — particularly those who have experienced foster care, trauma, or homelessness.
